With the abrupt change in the weather, more people are thinking about outdoor activities. For those ready for golf, they will be happy to know that the Madison Country Club is open for play. Carts will be allowed starting Wednesday, March 31.

Early season golf can be challenging with unpredictable weather, but the course will be open. Getting a golf course and clubhouse ready to open after a winter like weve had is no small task, but things look good and due to the weather change were ready, stated Groundskeeper Bill Stromberg. Everyone I talk to is ready for golf, Stromberg concluded.

Members and guests of MCC have come to expect a well-kept and challenging golf course west of Madison. The diversity of the only local 18-hole layout makes it a favorite for members and a variety of tournaments. We have a lot of organizations that love to come to Madison to play their events because the course is fun and challenging, but members and their guests come first, noted club President Marty Thompson.

MCC prides itself on its private course access, but at a public course price. Membership Chairman Jeff Pearson notes that MCC is very affordable and provides members with many opportunities to play golf without having to get tee times days or a week in advance. Most of the time you can simply show-up and walk-on. MCC also schedules social events for members such as couples nights, invitational tournaments, scrambles and more plus providing a strong golf program for children.

In addition to Stromberg, Mark Sullivan returns for his second year managing the clubhouse and Danelle Keninger will be managing the golf shop. MCC also has a driving range and putting and chipping green.
